How to get a 6000 CD code
All Ford 6000 CD stereos ask for an activation code after a power loss. The code usually comes on a card in the glove box or with the car papers, but over the years that card is often lost.
You can still recover it from the radio's serial number. Find the serial with the steps below, enter it at the top of the page and you'll have the code in less than 5 minutes.
Which 6000 CD do you have?
| Version | Years | Serial | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6000 CD RDS EON | 1997–2003 | M + 6 digits (e.g. M302011) | Label on the side or top of the case – the radio must be removed |
| 6000 CD Mk1 (silver buttons) | 2004–2008 | V + 6 digits (sometimes M), e.g. V938929 | Hold 1 + 6 after CODE appears; if nothing shows, read the label |
| 6000 CD Mk2 | 2008–2013 | V + 6 digits | Hold 1 + 6 after CODE appears |
Fitted to the Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, Transit, C-Max, Galaxy, S-Max, Kuga and Fusion, among others.
Find the serial and enter the code
- RDS EON (1997–2003): remove the unit with radio release keys and check the side and top labels. The serial is usually above or below the barcode and always starts with M followed by six digits (M302011, M231111, M173110).
- 2004–2013 units: turn the radio on and wait for CODE. Using both hands, press and hold buttons 1 and 6 until the display changes. The radio enters diagnostic mode for about 30 seconds and the serial appears last, just before CODE returns. It only shows for a second, so film it with your phone and pause the video.
- Still no serial? Remove the stereo with extraction keys (sold in most car accessory shops) to avoid damaging the corners, and read the serial from the top or side label.
- Get the code: enter the serial at the top of this page. The price for your country is shown before payment and the code appears straight after.
- Enter the code: with CODE on the display, press button 1 repeatedly for the first digit, 2 for the second, 3 for the third and 4 for the fourth. Hold button 5 to confirm.
WAIT, LOCKED and LOCKED 13
- WAIT after entering a code means it was wrong. Leave the radio switched on (ignition on) for about 30 minutes before trying again.
- LOCKED / LOCKED10 appears after 10 wrong codes. Hold button 6 while switching the radio on to get three more attempts.
- LOCKED 13 means all attempts are used up. The radio can no longer be unlocked online and needs reprogramming by a car electronics specialist or a Ford dealer.

I tried this site and it worked 100% correctly on my radio! Ford dealer told me he also can provide for free visiting them, but having the option to receive the code via Internet, with a fast response time is ideal. Thank you so much for such a great service!
