About the Ford 4500 RDS EON
The 4500 RDS EON is the cassette radio fitted to many Ford Fiesta, Focus Mk1, Ka, Transit and Transit Connect models from the late 1990s to the mid 2000s. Like all Ford factory radios it locks after a power loss and asks for a 4-digit code.
Unlike the 6000 CD, the 4500 RDS shows its serial with buttons 2 and 6. The serial always starts with M followed by 6 digits.
How to unlock a 4500 RDS EON
- Show the serial: switch the radio on so it shows CODE. Press and hold 2 and 6 together for about 3 seconds. The display shows the serial in the form M123456.
- Nothing appears? Remove the radio with four release keys (two on each side) and read the serial from the label on top of the case.
- Get the code: enter the serial at the top of this page. The price for your country is shown before payment.
- Enter the code: press button 1 as many times as the first digit, button 2 for the second, 3 for the third, 4 for the fourth, then press and hold 5.
Typical problems
- "10 LOCKED" on the display: too many wrong codes. Leave the radio switched on with the ignition on until the timer clears before trying again.
- The display shows "---- " instead of CODE: wait with the radio on; the radio is in a waiting period after wrong attempts.
- The code from the old card does not work: the radio may have been replaced. Always use the serial of the radio in the car.
