How to Get Your Ford Radio Code for Free

Lost your Ford radio code? Try these free options first. If none of them work, enter the radio serial number above and get the code instantly.

Paid service: the price for your country is shown before you pay, right after we identify your radio. No subscription, refund if the code does not work.

Before you pay for a radio code

Your Ford radio code may already be somewhere in the car or its paperwork. The checks below are free and take a few minutes. We list them honestly – if one of them works, you don't need our service.

Whatever you do, don't try random codes: after a few wrong attempts the stereo makes you wait, and after 10 it locks itself (LOCKED10, then LOCKED13).

Free ways to find your Ford radio code

  1. The radio code card. New Fords came with a small card (often credit-card size) showing the radio serial and the 4-digit "Keycode". Check the owner's manual wallet, the service book and the car purchase documents.
  2. Stickers in the car. Many owners stick the code in the glove box, inside the fuse box cover, in the boot or near the spare wheel. It's worth a quick look.
  3. The previous owner or the seller. If you bought the car used, the dealer or previous owner may still have the card or a note of the code.
  4. A Ford dealer. Ford dealers can usually look up the code if you bring proof of ownership (for example the V5C logbook) and ID. Some do it free, others charge a small fee, and you may have to wait.
  5. Your garage. If a garage disconnected the battery, ask them – they often have a way to recover the code for their customers.

When paying is the better option

  • The card is lost and the car is too old or second-hand for the dealer to help quickly.
  • The radio was replaced, so the code on the card no longer matches.
  • You need the radio working today. With our service you enter the serial, see the price for your country before paying, and get the code on the page straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Are free online Ford radio code generators safe?
Some free calculators work for common M and V serials, but many give wrong codes or push software downloads. A wrong code costs you an attempt – after 10 the radio locks. Never download programs to get a radio code.
Is the code on the radio label?
No. The label shows the serial number (starting with M, V, BP or C7), not the code. The code is calculated from that serial.
Can I get the code from my VIN or number plate?
Not reliably – radios are sometimes replaced, and the code belongs to the radio, not the car.
How do I find the radio serial number?
On most stereos from 2004 onwards, hold buttons 1 and 6 with the radio on. On the 4500 RDS hold 2 and 6. Older units and navigation systems show it on a label on the case. Use the serial number guide at the top of this page.

I tried this site and it worked 100% correctly on my radio! Ford dealer told me he also can provide for free visiting them, but having the option to receive the code via Internet, with a fast response time is ideal. Thank you so much for such a great service!
