Mondeo radios and the anti-theft code
Every factory radio and navigation unit in the Mondeo has an anti-theft code. After the battery is disconnected, the display shows CODE and the radio stays silent until the correct 4-digit code is entered.
The Mondeo Mk3 and Mk4 used several different units over the years: the 6000 CD (with and without RDS EON), Sony CD units on higher trims, and Blaupunkt TravelPilot navigation. Each one is unlocked from its own serial number.

How to unlock your Mondeo radio
- Try the button method. With the radio on, hold 1 and 6 for about 3 seconds. On most V-serial units the serial scrolls across the display.
- Read the label if needed. Early Mk3 radios and all navigation units show nothing on screen. Remove the unit with four release keys and copy the serial from the label or the number stamped into the metal case.
- Get the code. Enter the serial at the top of this page. You see the price for your country before paying, and the code right after payment.
- Enter it. Use buttons 1–4 to set each digit, then press and hold 5 to confirm (on navigation units follow the on-screen prompts).
Mondeo tips
- On TravelPilot units, if the label serial and the screen serial differ, use the one stamped into the metal casing.
- Do not guess codes: wrong entries add waiting times and after 10 tries the radio shows LOCKED.
- A replacement radio from a breaker's yard needs the code for that radio, not your old one.
